The Whiskey Creek Educational Watershed: A Collaboration between Diné College and New Mexico Tech

Lead Investigator: Marnie Carroll

Project Description

The proposed project will purchase, install, and use a set of environmental sensors in educational efforts at Diné College. The hydrology and water quality instrumentation specified in the proposal will be used to develop an educational watershed at Whiskey Creek on the Navajo Nation, near Diné College.

New Mexico Tech will collaborate on the implementation of this project by setting up the instruments, training faculty in their use, helping to supervise students using the instruments as part of a summer undergraduate research program, and in the use of the instruments in the classroom at Diné College.
This project will make a lasting impact on Diné College’s ability to provide field
experiences and authentic research experiences to its students.
