The primary goal of the "Carbon and Nutrient Dynamics in Semi-Arid Ecosystems" Innovation Working Group was to write a review paper addressing the uncertainties associated with soil C cycling in semi-arid and arid ecosystems in the northern hemisphere, and to use this paper as a foundation for development of a competitive proposal to be submitted to the National Science Foundation.
